Top 5 Reasons to Register for the Getem Services Big Blue 5K

The countdown is on! With just one month until kickoff, it’s time to secure your spot for the 11th annual Getem Services Big Blue 5K presented by Bon Secours. This day is packed with so many highlight-reel worthy moments, it’s hard to pick our MVPs…but if we had to draft our top 5…

#1. The Swag:

Get ready to score big on race day! You’ll be taking home this lightweight tank, a finisher medal that shines like a championship ring, and a fluted stadium cup for your victory toast.

#2. On the Course:

What could top a 5K course through the beautiful ODU campus? How about adding ODU sports teams cheering you on! Members of the Men’s Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Swimming and Football teams will be doling out high fives and cheers from the sidelines as your make your way to the finish.

And since we’re at ODU, how about some “ice cream and cake (and cake?).” To help keep your cool and your tastebuds happy, we’ll have popsicles on the course, as well as Nothing Bundt Cake samples waiting for you at the post-race party.

#3. The Post-Race Tailgate Party:

We couldn’t have the 11th annual Getem Services Big Blue 5K presented by Bon Secours without a post-race tailgate party. After you cross the finish line, head to the party, grab a slice of pizza and an ice cold beer and enjoy some live entertainment (you may want to change into dancing shoes, because Request Station will be on stage ready to take your song requests).

#4. The Finish:

After your complete 3.1 miles through Old Dominion University’s campus, then it’s time for that touchdown worthy finish. As you near the finish, the course directs you through the S.B. Ballard Stadium tunnel (talk about a grand entrance) followed by an epic finish on the 50 yard line of Kornblau Field!
