Last week’s Ambassador Wrap-Up Party was definitely a bittersweet gathering. You’ve most likely seen this bunch representing J&A at our races, out in the community and connecting with runners on social media. Of course it was tough to say see ya later for now, but we did it J&A style – with a cookout! There were laughs, a little friendly competition, and, most importantly, a whole lot of appreciation for all the hard work they have put in.
We had corn hole, Kan Jam and giant Jenga on-site but this is a competitive bunch so we had to kick it up a notch – Survivor game style.
First, they drew rocks out of a bag. Each rock painted red, blue or green to signify their designated team.
1st Challenge
Each team selected two tossers and two catchers with the goal for one pair at a time to each catch 5 koozies in a dry bag (it’s harder than you think)!
2nd Challenge
Once they fill their bag, the whole team is off to find 4 paper plates in their designated color hidden in the trees of our picnic spot at First Landing State Park.
3rd Challenge
In order to access the final challenge, they had to strike a pose with their plates in front of the play set and show the ref their photographic proof. Ya know, pics or it didn’t happen, right?
4th Challenge
After receiving a thumbs up from the ref, they were given four envelopes, each with a photo representing a word. They had to put them in the right order and solve the puzzle to claim victory!
It came close at the end, but the Blue team won it all after coming back from a rougher start with the koozie game.
After breaking a sweat, it was time to eat and no cookout is complete without hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies and one big ole’ bowl of potato salad. With plates and cups full, the rest of the evening was spent catching up and revisiting race day memories.
That’s a wrap!
The fun’s not over yet – we’ve just opened up applications for anyone that’s been itching to join the crew! Application window closes May 24, 2024.
