Jessica from Richmond shares the triumphs and tribulations that came with completing her first Marathon!
“Shamrock was my very first marathon experience! I started my running journey only 8 months prior with no running experience. The training for this race was an adventure. I endured several injuries and spent many hours in physical therapy. The first half of the race felt great! I was ‘high’ on adrenaline and excitement. I met my friend who support ran the last half of the marathon with me at mile 13. I also had friends waiting for me with their posters at miles 14 and 25 which was a HUGE morale boost. This is when my feet started to hurt. The last half of the race was very difficult and I was in a lot of pain. But this experience was not only the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but the most rewarding! I was so proud of myself I was crying as I approached the finish line.”
