J&A Racing Youth Fitness Programs
J&A Racing is committed to youth fitness, both to promote a whole family active lifestyle, and to help combat childhood obesity. The following is an overview of the youth fitness programs available throughout the year.
Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile
part of the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend
Elementary aged children in this program run or walk 25.2 miles from January to March, either in school or at home, and then run the “final mile” of their full marathon on Saturday of Shamrock Marathon Weekend. Students are also encouraged to help other children through fundraising efforts to benefit the title sponsor, Operation Smile, a children’s charity which performs cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries around the world.
Big Blue Kids 1K
part of the Getem Services Big Blue 5K
The 1K is a race for children 12 and under. Kids will make their way to a finish inside ODU’s state-of-the-art game day home of the football Monarchs, Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
Virginia Beach Kids 1 Mile
part of the Virginia Beach 10 Miler Weekend
The Chartway Kids Mile is a race for children ages 12 and under. It will end at the same boardwalk finish line that is crossed by our 5K and 10 Miler participants.
Crawlin’ Crab Kids 1K
part of the Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon Weekend
This one kilometer fun run starts and finishes at the same location as the Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon & 5K. Kids can experience what it feels like to be part of race day as they cross the finish line of their own kid run.
Monster Mile
Part of Old Point National Bank Wicked 10K Weekend
Kick off your Halloween weekend with a Friday night race. The Old Point National Bank Monster Mile presented by Bon Secours is a unique mile race. See how fast you can run in the ViBe District before you celebrate at the post-race celebration at The Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Norfolk Harbor Kids Mile
part of the Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon Weekend
Teach your child the love of running at an early age. The Norfolk Harbor Kids Mile is a race for children ages 12 and under. It will start and finish at the same start and finish line that is crossed by our Half Marathon, 10K and 5K participants.
Rudolph’s 1K
part of the BayPort Credit Union Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler
Rudolph lights the way for the Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler! This Friday night race takes place during the Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler expo. Every child will receive a light-up Rudolph nose to help illuminate the path for the thousands of Santas that will run on Saturday.
