Wicked Weekend Recap
It was a scary good time in Virginia Beach on Friday and Saturday, as over 5,000 participants took part in running and walking in the Old Point Bank 10K and 5K Wicked Weekend. Besides plenty of Halloween puns flying around (on broomsticks, of course), there were also lots of amazing costumes and smiles on the race course. Keep scrolling to see a recap of the weekend!
Monster Mile Start
The weekend kicked off with the Monster Mile on Friday night – even our charity partner for this race – Spike’s K9 Fund – joined in the fun!
Wicked 10K and 5K Start
The fun continued on Saturday morning for the 10K and 5K. The best part about Wicked weekend is all the creative (sometimes spooky and scary) costumes that people come up with. After people got their costumes judged for prizes, it was race time! The 10K and 5K courses featured candy corn stops, spider rings, and a zombie zone before finishing on the Virginia Beach boardwalk.
There ain’t no party…
…like a J&A post-race party! This year’s monster mash on the beach featured beer by New Belgium VooDoo Ranger and Coastal Cocktails. Race finishers also enjoyed Liquid Death, warm tomato and cheese soup and an energetic music performance from the band, Mashup.
There was a race for everyone this weekend! The kids lined up after the 10K and 5K for their own 1K race that also ended on the boardwalk.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this past weekend! First timer or legacy status runner, we hope this weekend was a blast for you, too. Don’t forget that we have more fun events coming up at the Chartway Norfolk Harbor weekend and Bayport Surf N Santa 5 Miler!
